This one day course is designed for area and operational managers to improve interview and discipline management. The programme has a workshop element to allow candidates to practice aspects of the interview and discipline management process, to allow reflection and build confidence and understanding.

Discipline situations arise when least expected and it is important that managers have the necessary competence to deal effectively with these difficult situations.

Course Contents & Objectives

    The course will enable you to practice and set your own action plan relative to your organisational needs and requirements and to improve performance in recruitment, retention and discipline of staff.

    • Identify legal requirements relative to recruiting staff
    • Demonstrate how to carry out new staff inductions
    • Understand how to manage the interview process to bring about successful outcome and long term benefits
    • Understand the importance of differen types of interviews
    • Understand the difference between a job specification and a job description and how to use them effectively
    • Understand discipline management and how to conduct a disciplinary procedure with positive and constructive outcomes to improve performance.
